The lifeless body of the South African ambassador found near a hotel in Paris
French newspapers reported on Tuesday, September 30th, that the body of Ankusinati Emmanuel Nathi Mthethwa, the South African ambassador to France, was found at the bottom of the Hyatt Regency hotel in western Paris.
Paris police have not yet commented on this event, and the details of the incident are unclear.
Le Parisien wrote that the ambassador’s wife had earlier reported his disappearance after receiving a worrying text message from him, and she informed the police after receiving the message.
Reuters reported that a spokesperson for the South African Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated they are aware of the unfortunate reports concerning Ambassador Nathi Mthethwa and will issue a statement as soon as they receive official information.
According to the South African embassy’s website, Mthethwa served as the country’s Minister of Arts and Culture from 2014 to 2019. No further details of this incident have been released so far.
