Donald Trump will likely decide by Sunday whether to accept the agreement or resume the war.
Donald Trump, the President of the United States, announced on Saturday, May 23, in an interview with Axios that he would meet with his negotiating team later today to review Iran’s latest proposal. He added that he would likely decide by Sunday whether to accept the agreement or resume the war.
Trump described the chances of reaching a good agreement or otherwise completely destroying them as a solid 50/50. According to him, a meeting is scheduled for late Saturday with Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, and J.D. Vance, the Vice President, to review the recent response from the Islamic Republic.
These statements come as Field Marshal Asim Munir, the commander of the Pakistani army and mediator of this crisis, left Iran on Saturday after meeting with senior officials in Tehran and attempting to finalize the agreement. Although the agreement has not yet been finalized, the Pakistani army has announced that encouraging progress has been made towards a final understanding.
