Drying of thousands of trees in Chitgar Forest Park

In its Tuesday edition on June 11th, Hamshahri newspaper wrote that the pest of bark beetles has put the pine trees of this forest in danger, causing the drying of thousands of trees in Chitgar Forest Park. This incident has also occurred in Sarkeh Hesar, Lavizan, and Telav parks, but this forest park is the most affected by this situation.

The level of drying in these trees is such that people easily use them for lighting fires and say that the number of these trees increases every month.

The Forests Research Organization says that about eight thousand trees in Chitgar have dried up due to water stress and a decrease in the groundwater level.
