Editors of Etemad and Jahan-e Sanat Newspapers Summoned to Court

The editors of the two newspapers, Etemad and Jahan-e Sanat, have been summoned to the prosecutor’s office.

The Mizan news agency, affiliated with the judiciary, wrote without explanation about these summons that following the publication of certain content in the newspapers Jahan-e Sanat and Etemad, the editors-in-chief of these two newspapers have been summoned to the prosecutor’s office to respond and provide documentation regarding the publication of unsubstantiated material.

There is significant pressure and restriction on media in Iran, and Reporters Without Borders in its report this year has ranked Iran 177th out of 180 countries in terms of freedom of expression.

In this year’s report by this organization advocating for press freedom, only three countries, Vietnam, China, and North Korea, have a worse situation than Iran.
