Efforts to Revive the JCPOA in Muscat
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, headed to the capital of Oman on the evening of Tuesday, December 27th, to negotiate with the country’s officials on several sensitive issues.
He says Muscat plays a constructive role in the JCPOA and regional disputes, and this trip is also for cooperation in these areas.
Upon his arrival in Muscat, Amir-Abdollahian stated that he is carrying a message from Iran’s President, Ebrahim Raisi.
He delivered this message to Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman on Wednesday morning. As with previous trips, information about the content of this message and Amir-Abdollahian’s overnight negotiations with Omani officials has been released in a limited and controlled manner.
Amir-Abdollahian noted that Oman plays a positive and prominent role in converging the viewpoints of the parties to the nuclear agreement and is seeking to revive this agreement.
This country is a hub for regional dialogues on many issues, whether related to Iran or the rest of the region.
