Ehsan Lashgari has resigned from the coaching staff of the national freestyle wrestling team
Two days before the start of the Asian Wrestling Championships, Ehsan Lashgari resigned from the coaching staff of the national freestyle wrestling team. Lashgari was absent from the camp due to a trip to the United States, but after his return, he was fully present at the Nowruz camp and was included in the list of the team traveling to Kyrgyzstan.
Now, Mehdi Taghavi, Reza Afzali, and Abazar Eslami are assistant coaches of the national team. Critics believe that even with Lashgari’s presence, the coaching resume and experience of this list are not suitable for the Olympics. Among the critics is Hemmat Mosalmi Jouybari, coach of Hassan Yazdani, who told ISNA, ‘With what resume have Lashgari and Taghavi become national team coaches?’
Lashgari and the Wrestling Federation have refrained from commenting on the termination of their cooperation. The resigned national team coach had previously told the Wrestling Federation’s website, ‘I feel a sense of duty and want to share everything I know. Until the Olympics, we are focusing on technical aspects and changing the wrestlers’ tactics.’
