With one day left until the elections for the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the Assembly of Experts in Iran, the candidates’ campaign period has ended.
Tomorrow, Friday, March 1st, starting at 8 AM Tehran time, the elections for the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the Assembly of Experts will be held across Iran. However, surveys indicate that people are not inclined to participate in the elections.
This is the first election after the nationwide protests of the Woman, Life, Freedom movement.
More than 15,200 candidates have been approved for the Islamic Consultative Assembly elections, and 144 candidates for the sixth term of the Assembly of Experts.
The Iranian Reformist Coalition announced in a statement that it cannot participate in an election devoid of meaning, non-competitive, unfair, and ineffective in governing the country, and it also cannot present an electoral list because they have no candidates left.
Mohsen Islami, the spokesperson for Iran’s election headquarters, praised the candidates and their supporters, stating that this period saw the least amount of violations, and no cases have been formed in the judicial authorities regarding violations.
