Elham Afkari was sentenced to 5 years in prison

A court in Shiraz sentenced the sister of Navid Afkari, the wrestler who was executed on charges of waging war against the state, to five years in prison.

Saeed Afkari, Navid’s brother, tweeted on Tuesday, December 20, that the Shiraz court, with a judgment devoid of honor, sentenced my sister Elham Afkari to five years in prison.

On November 10, media outlets of the Islamic Republic reported that Elham Afkari was arrested by the Shiraz Intelligence Department.

Her husband and three-year-old daughter were also arrested but were later released.

State-affiliated media have claimed that Elham Afkari was one of the main agents of the Iran International network inside Iran and played a role in the recent protests.
