Ensieh Khazali at the United Nations: We witness rapid progress of Iranian women after the revolution.

Ensieh Khazali, the Deputy for Women and Family Affairs of the President, said at the sixty-eighth session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women that we witness the rapid progress of Iranian women in the decades following the Islamic Revolution. This progress is a result of independence and self-sufficiency. Today, the maternal mortality rate in my country has decreased to 23 per 100,000 due to pregnancy-related complications.

All pregnant and breastfeeding Iranian women and children under seven years old receive free insurance. Health and medical issues are excellently addressed not only for the women of my country but also for migrant women. Iran University of Medical Sciences is among the leading universities providing such services at an international level.

Gender equality in education has grown by 97%. 60% of teachers and 40% of specialist doctors are women. In the past year, a free food basket has been provided for pregnant mothers and children in low-income families as part of poverty alleviation efforts. This ensures the supply of necessary nutrients and monitors the growth indicators of children under the supervision of the Ministry of Health.
