Europe expresses concern over the US re-exiting the Paris Agreement
Executive orders by US President Donald Trump to re-exit the Paris Climate Agreement and also the World Health Organization have sparked reactions from countries around the world and non-governmental organizations.
Eva Hernchirova, the European Union’s health spokesperson, expressed concern over the US withdrawal from the World Health Organization during a press conference in Brussels on Tuesday, stating, ‘We are determined to cooperate with our American partners and hope that this US withdrawal process is still under review.’
The World Health Organization also expressed regret that its most important financial supporter is taking such action.
A spokesperson for the organization expressed hope that the United States will reconsider this decision and that a constructive dialogue benefiting everyone, including Americans and people worldwide, will take place.
On the other hand, Guo Jiakun, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the role of the World Health Organization should be strengthened, not weakened.
