Family Appointments in the Oil Industry Under Scrutiny
Following a tweet by Saeed Aganji, a journalist specializing in anti-corruption and editor of Iran Gate, revelations have emerged regarding certain appointments within the structure of the Ministry of Oil of the Islamic Republic of Iran, sparking reactions in the media and social networks. In his tweet, Aganji disclosed that after the issue of not returning trust funds and disruptions in the maritime transport sector, a network of appointments based on personal and political connections has formed within the oil industry. He mentioned individuals like Majid Ali Nazi and a person with the last name Bahmaei as key figures in this process, stating that the removal of Nazi from the maritime deputy position has not prevented the continuation of this influence.
In the continuation of these revelations, the name Majid Ali Nazi, known as Ali Omidi, has been mentioned. According to Aganji, his appointment was not based on expertise but relied on special connections with Paknejad, the Minister of Oil, and also connections with someone named Bahmaei. The reference to the Minister of Oil pertains to the high responsibility in the Ministry of Oil, which is tasked with protecting national interests against this national wealth.
Appointment in Oil Security
Another part of this tweet is dedicated to the appointment of Hamed Izadi, whose real name is Heshmat Ilka, in the Oil Security Organization. Aganji, while mentioning this appointment, has also analyzed it within the framework of the same network of connections.
It was also mentioned about his family connection with Kian Ilka, who, according to the claim, joined the board of directors of the Persian Gulf Holding a few months ago. This holding is considered one of the largest active groups in the petrochemical sector of the country.
However, the revelation about the formation of economic cover groups in the office of the Minister of Oil is noteworthy, as this action has provided a platform for creating a network of oil and economic managers who, according to many energy experts, lack the necessary expertise and have created financial and economic benefits for themselves and their close associates.
Reference to Arrest and Demand for Judicial Investigation
Aganji further reported the arrest of a person named Bahmaei, an individual whose connections with the Minister of Oil trace back to the roots of these appointments. He concluded by criticizing the judicial system’s performance and called for addressing the perpetrators of the current situation instead of confronting protesters. Given the sensitivity of the issue and its potential impact on public opinion and the managerial structure of the oil industry in Iran, it is expected that responsible bodies will take steps towards transparency. Addressing this corruption network, which has caused significant problems in not returning large amounts of the nation’s oil money, is a serious test for supervisory bodies and the judiciary.
