The head of Farabi Hospital: A thousand people with eye lacerations were treated following the January protests.
Dr. Ghasem Fakhraei, the head of Farabi Eye Specialty Hospital, has announced that following the January protests, approximately one thousand people with lacerations to one or both eyes have visited this hospital, and all have undergone initial emergency surgery.
According to the head of this hospital, these statistics pertain specifically to those injured with direct eye damage and do not include cases such as eyelid lacerations or other facial injuries caused by bullets or pellets. He added that the supplementary treatment process for many of these patients is still ongoing.
Maryam Sabbaghi, the head nurse of Farabi Hospital, also stated that during this period all hospital beds were occupied, and some protesters injured in the eye area were accommodated on companion beds or stretchers borrowed from other hospitals.
According to her, a significant portion of these injured individuals are young people.
