Fateful Day of August 15 Has Arrived

The fateful day of August 15 has arrived.

William Burns, the director of the CIA and the US foreign policy leader, will begin negotiations on a ceasefire in Gaza on August 15 in Doha, accompanied by Qatari, Egyptian, and Israeli officials.

These negotiations, based on a joint plan announced a week ago by the US, Egypt, and Qatar, have called on both sides involved in Gaza to come to the negotiation table. Biden explicitly stated that he hopes the positive results of the Doha negotiations will restrain Iran’s hand in attacking Israel and prevent war. This comes at a very sensitive time in the region following Hamas’s rocket attack on Tel Aviv.

The remaining hours until the start of the negotiations are crucial, and America and its allies hope to avoid any surprising events during this time.

Brett McGurk, a senior member of Biden’s foreign policy team, has been engaged in negotiations in Egypt, and Amos Hochstein is also in Beirut negotiating to reduce tensions between Hezbollah and Israel.

Biden’s team has entered the field with full force; Qatar is responsible for representing Hamas in the negotiations, and this organization will send its representatives if satisfied with the negotiation process.
