FIFA and Adidas unveiled the 2026 World Cup ball with Zidane in attendance
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) unveiled the official ball for the 2026 World Cup, named ‘Triunda’, on Thursday, October 1, at a ceremony in New York attended by Zinedine Zidane, the former captain of the French national team, along with football stars from Germany, Brazil, Italy, and Spain.
This ball is a combination of advanced technologies and symbolic elements from the three co-hosting countries of the World Cup: the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Its design was undertaken by the German company Adidas.
The design of this ball incorporates the colors red, blue, and green, and features the maple leaf from Canada, the eagle from Mexico, and the stars from the American flag on its surface.
According to Adidas, the innovative technologies used in the making of ‘Triunda’ include deep grooves for greater stability in flight and raised icons for improved ball control in wet conditions.
The ball also contains a motion sensor chip that transmits data about its movement to the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system.
This World Cup will be held with 48 teams for the first time, and the name and design of the ball were inspired by this change.
