The fire department has not yet determined the cause of the incident at the hospital.
This morning, one of the media outlets speculated about the cause of the fire incident at Gandhi Hospital, and quoted one of the hospital staff as saying that a worker’s cigarette butt on the fifteenth floor caused the fire. These statements were made while no official comments regarding the cause of the incident have been published yet.
In this regard, Kamran Abdoli, the Deputy of Prevention at the Tehran Fire Department and Safety Services, dismissed this claim and said that the cause of the fire at Gandhi Hospital is being investigated by experts from the Tehran Fire Department, and since the investigations are ongoing, no specific cause has been announced yet.
Abdoli continued, stating that there is no doubt the hospital had safety issues and had received warnings multiple times, but the exact cause of the fire is not yet known. Therefore, the information presented by some media outlets is incorrect.
The Deputy of Prevention at the Tehran Fire Department and Safety Services also stated that investigating the cause of a fire is a specialized task, and fire department experts examine the evidence, all existing traces, and use their specialized knowledge to determine and announce the cause. Therefore, it cannot be reported based on staff statements.
