Fire incidents in Iran’s refineries

There is a possibility of infiltration and sabotage, according to the Energy Commission of the Parliament

Fereydoun Abbasi, a member of the Energy Commission of the Iranian Parliament, has stated that both industrial sabotage and non-industrial sabotage can occur in recent incidents in refineries.

According to ILNA, the former head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran has said that there is a possibility of infiltrators in the industry, and such incidents can happen in all countries.

Fereydoun Abbasi has stated that human error, management error, and sabotage are all possible causes, and even if everything is in order, sabotage can still occur. Should we say that nothing is wrong and security is always maintained, and we have no security concerns anywhere? No, we cannot say that.

He has said that despite preventing hundreds of planned attacks by the enemy, a few incidents have still occurred.

Fereydoun Abbasi has said that over time, a person may become a troublemaker due to dissatisfaction, family problems, or influence from others. A troublemaker doesn’t necessarily plant bombs, sometimes they engage in industrial sabotage. They learn how to manipulate electricity, tamper with water, and manipulate gas pressure.

This member of the Iranian Parliament’s Energy Commission has commented on the extensive fire at the Birjand base that occurred last week. He said that regarding the Birjand refinery, I don’t have any evidence to say that sabotage has taken place. It could be due to human error or faulty equipment.

The Birjand refinery, which was inaugurated last year, suffered an explosion and fire last week. The governor of Birjand announced that all 18 tanks of this refinery were burned in the fire.

Today, distillation unit number 3 of the Isfahan refinery caught fire, and four people were injured.

In recent years, several refineries in Iran have experienced fires and explosions.
