Following protests by supporters of Palestine, Columbia University canceled its graduation ceremony.
The president of Columbia University in New York announced that the main graduation ceremony at the university has been canceled due to recent student protests against the Gaza war.
Nemat Shafiq stated on Tuesday, May 7th, that smaller ceremonies for this purpose will be held separately in the 19 faculties of the university.
Dozens of protesters at Columbia University last Tuesday occupied a building on the campus, blocked its entrances, and waved the Palestinian flag from its windows.
US President Joe Biden had previously condemned this action.
After this incident, the main campus of Columbia University is almost closed.
