Following the death of Mehran Samak, the commander of the Anzali police force was arrested.

Seyed Majid Ahmadi, the lawyer for the family of Mehran Samak, who was killed during last week’s unrest in Anzali, announced the arrest of the commander of the Bandar Anzali police force.

Ahmadi, after 7 days since the murder of Mehran Samak, with continuous follow-ups and examination of reasons and evidence, ultimately had Jafar Javanmardi, the commander of the Bandar Anzali police region, charged with violating the law on the use of weapons leading to the intentional murder of Mehran Samak. He was charged in the first branch of the Gilan military prosecutor’s office, issued a temporary detention order, and is currently in Rasht Central Prison.
