Former Deputy Minister of Science: In the past 10 years, 12,000 university professors have left Iran

Gholamreza Zarifian, the former Deputy Minister of Science, announced at the 21st General Assembly of the Islamic Association of University Professors that over the past 10 years, 12,000 university professors have left Iran, with 60% of these departures occurring in the last four years.

He emphasized that with fundamental changes in the ecosystem and governance of higher education, managing universities cannot be done with past perspectives, and this new ecosystem requires special authorities.

Zarifian stated that universities should be the critical intellect of society and added that unfortunately, universities have been viewed with suspicion and have been caged.
