Former Esteghlal coach joins Foolad
Alireza Mansourian has become the coach of Foolad Khuzestan football team until the end of the current season of the Iranian Premier League.
The former Esteghlal and Iran national team midfielder has coaching experience in teams such as Esteghlal, Zob Ahan, Naft Tehran, Abadan Oil Industry, and Iran Olympic football team.
At the same time, the CEO and new members of the Foolad board of directors were also introduced.
Foolad was the only representative of Iran in this season’s AFC Champions League and reached the quarter-finals.
After the team’s victory in the round of 16 against Al-Faisaly of Saudi Arabia, Javad Nekounam, the coach of the team, stated that his dignity as a coach was not respected and resigned.
Foolad lost 1-0 to Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia in the next game and was eliminated.
