Former head of counterintelligence of Ukraine’s security service sentenced to life imprisonment
A former senior official of Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) has been sentenced to life imprisonment on charges of treason for allegedly passing confidential information to Russia.
Ukraine’s Prosecutor General announced that Colonel Dmytro Kozlov, who was responsible for counterintelligence activities, provided Russia with classified information in exchange for money from Moscow. This information included the extent of damage from Russian missile attacks on Kyiv, the location of military and security units, and details of casualties from these attacks.
According to the prosecution, Russia recruited him eight years ago, but he became an active agent following the outbreak of war in 2022.
This sentence was issued while Russia conducted a large-scale attack on Kyiv a month ago and announced that more attacks on decision-making centers, command posts, and Ukraine’s drone production facilities are forthcoming.
