France summoned Iran’s chargé d’affaires in Paris
The French Foreign Ministry announced that it summoned Iran’s chargé d’affaires in Paris following the arrest of two staff members of the French embassy in Tehran.
The ministry, noting that the two French embassy employees in Tehran were arrested by the Islamic Republic’s security forces and, according to Paris, were subjected to physical intimidation, called for clarification of the incident’s details, punishment of those responsible, and assurance of the security of French diplomatic premises and personnel based on Iran’s international obligations.
Jean-Noël Barrot, the French Foreign Minister, previously accused the Islamic Republic’s security forces of violating the diplomatic immunity of these two employees, stating that they were detained and interrogated for several hours without any reason, and one of them was assaulted. According to him, the two individuals returned to the French embassy after their release and are set to return to France soon.
