The French Defense Minister says Iran has become a security challenge for Europe.

The French Defense Minister states that the Islamic Republic of Iran has become a security challenge for Europe; however, France does not intend to engage in military conflict with Iran.

In an interview published on Sunday, April 22, in the newspaper Le Parisien, Sébastien Lecornu discussed Iran’s unprecedented attack on Israel, tensions in the Middle East, and France’s role in this context.

He said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has made insecurity and instability in the region its agenda, and Paris condemns such an approach.

Mr. Lecornu stated that Iran is a security challenge not only for Israel and regional countries but also for Europe.

The French Defense Minister added that France has maritime interests in the Middle East, and for this reason, French frigates protect commercial ships that are potentially targeted by the Houthis.
