The German Chancellor said, ‘We condemn this violence in the strongest possible terms.’

The German Chancellor stated that the disproportionate and brutal violence against protesters is a sign of the Iranian government’s weakness.

Friedrich Merz, who is visiting India, said, ‘We condemn this violence in the strongest possible terms. This violence does not signify strength but rather weakness, and it must end.’

The German government also condemned the shutdown of internet access during the protests.

A spokesperson for the German Foreign Ministry said that cutting off the internet, which is fundamental for freedom of expression, access to information, and a crucial platform for communication and organizing gatherings, is a reprehensible action.

He welcomed any measures that could enable internet access, including methods that would circumvent governmental restrictions.
