Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, the head of Iran’s judiciary, ordered the swift and deterrent punishment of those responsible for the unrest.

Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, the head of Iran’s judiciary, has asked judges to promptly proceed with the trial and deterrent punishment of the elements and instigators of the recent unrest.

Officials of the Islamic Republic refer to the protests as unrest.

According to Mizan, he stated that the line between protesters and those influenced by emotions is separate from the main elements who have committed crimes and received orders from the enemy.

While the Iranian government insists on executing protesters, the judicial processes in the country are non-transparent, and reports indicate a lack of access for defendants to appointed lawyers and the dominance of security agencies over some branches of the Revolutionary Court.

Despite all the opposition to the continued execution of protesters in Iran, Mr. Ejei has instructed his first deputy in the Attorney General’s office to follow up daily on the process of completing the files of the main elements of the recent unrest and to provide the necessary assistance to the relevant judicial authorities responsible for completing these files.
