Golshifteh Farahani: My heart beats with the people of Iran
Golshifteh Farahani, the Iranian actress, by sharing videos of the ongoing protests in Iran on her Instagram, wrote: I am hopeful for a free and independent Iran, a place where people do not have to suffer so much to meet their most basic needs.
Farahani, on her Instagram which has over 17 million followers, wrote in a message in English: The people of Iran have resisted against the Islamic Republic since 1979 (1357 in the Iranian calendar), 46 years of resistance.
Thousands have been killed, tortured, and executed, and irreparable damage has been done to Iran’s human and cultural resources. No government, even intentionally, could have destroyed Iran in this way. People are tired of the oppression, corruption, and the economy that crushes them, while the oligarchs become wealthier and foreign powers exploit this crisis.
