The government spokesperson says no authority is waiting for the approval of the new hijab law.
Bahadori Jahromi stated that currently, or at any other time, no social, cultural, law enforcement, judicial, or executive authority is waiting for the approval of a law in this area. The existing laws have already defined the duties of these authorities regarding cultural and social issues.
Ali Bahadori Jahromi, the government spokesperson, regarding remarks about deferring the organization of the situation of modesty and hijab to the government’s acceptance of its financial burden, stated that recently, correspondence from the Islamic Consultative Assembly was again done regarding an article that specified that the costs of supporting the culture of modesty and strengthening the family foundation should be considered as acceptable tax expenses, and this is a form of incentive for investment and expenditure in this area.
The government spokesperson noted that perhaps there was no necessity to pass a law, and there was no obligation for this issue to remain pending until a law was passed for action to be taken in this area. Previously, there had been back-and-forths on this matter, and discussions had taken place in various institutions’ meetings, and a bill was submitted to the government by the judicial authority.
