Grossi: Having the potential capacity to build a weapon does not mean Iran has built it
Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, stated in an interview with the Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita that we have previously said Iran has the technical potential capacity to build nuclear weapons, but having potential capacity does not mean Iran possesses a nuclear weapon.
The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency emphasized that the process of building a nuclear bomb requires not only sufficient enriched uranium but also much more complex stages, and he stressed that we do not have credible information that Iran actually has a ready warhead.
Grossi added that this process takes months, maybe longer, and completely hiding all of this, especially with proper international monitoring, is very difficult.
Rafael Grossi emphasized that a scenario of force cannot permanently eliminate the threat, stating that even if military force is used, completely destroying Iran’s base of knowledge and industry is impossible.
Iran remains a large country with serious scientific and technological potential.
