Grossi: Iran does not have the right to unilaterally cut off its communication with the Agency
Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, on Thursday, referring to Iran’s suspension of cooperation with the Agency, said that cooperation with the Agency is an international obligation. Iran does not have the right to unilaterally suspend cooperation with the Agency, and this action will have serious consequences.
The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, in an interview with Radio France Internationale, said that Iran is a member of the Non-Proliferation Treaty and legally they do not have the right to unilaterally suspend this cooperation. If they make such a decision, we will be on the verge of a new crisis.
Grossi, who has traveled to Paris to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron, spoke about the US airstrike on Iran’s nuclear facilities in Fordow, saying that based on satellite images and what the International Atomic Energy Agency knows about the Fordow facilities and the bombs dropped on them, the centrifuges at the Fordow nuclear facilities are no longer operational due to severe vibrations from the explosion that caused significant physical damage.
The Islamic Consultative Assembly on Wednesday approved a plan to suspend cooperation with the Agency. At the same time, Grossi has announced that returning inspectors to Iran’s nuclear sites to assess damages is his main priority.
