The Guardian: Trump wants his image on a $250 bill

The Guardian newspaper reported that the White House is negotiating with Congress to approve a $250 bill featuring Donald Trump’s image, an action that would require changing federal law prohibiting living individuals from appearing on U.S. currency.

Scott Besant, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, said this bill was proposed to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence, and the Treasury Department has also explored its potential preparations.

However, the approval of this proposal requires Congress’s consent, and given the Democrats’ opposition, it does not have an easy path ahead.

Hakeem Jeffries, the leader of the House Democrats, rejected this proposal, saying the anniversary of American independence is not for celebrating a self-proclaimed king, but for honoring American history.
