Hamshahri’s report on the high cost of travel in Iran: Traveling to Turkey is cheaper than domestic trips
The Hamshahri newspaper has published a field report on the high costs of domestic travel in Iran, which estimates that in many cases, traveling to Turkey is more economical for families than domestic trips. The report states that a three-night, four-day trip to cities like Mashhad, Shiraz, or cities in Hormozgan Province for a family of four might cost up to 40 million tomans. According to this report, the cost of a four-day domestic trip, including transportation, accommodation, and food, ranges from 7 to 10 million tomans, and the cost of traveling to southern cities during peak travel times can rise to 20 million tomans. For example, the price of a Qeshm tour is estimated between 10 to 15 million tomans, and the price of a Kish tour from Tehran in mid-March is estimated from around 7 million 900 thousand tomans, reaching up to 21 million tomans. The report mentions that the cost of a three-night, four-day trip to Istanbul with a flight and a three-star hotel is about 10 million tomans. A Batumi, Georgia tour with a five-star hotel including breakfast and dinner in winter is estimated to cost between 8 to 10 million tomans.
