Hassan Ghafouri-Fard, former member of the Motalefeh, has passed away
Hassan Ghafouri-Fard, a conservative politician in Iran and a former member of the Islamic Motalefeh Party, passed away in Tehran at the age of 79 due to illness.
Mr. Ghafouri-Fard served as a representative in various terms of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, but he also had a background in government. He was the Minister of Energy in Mir-Hossein Mousavi’s government and became the head of the Physical Education Organization in Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani’s government, which at that time was considered a vice-presidential position.
Mr. Ghafouri-Fard was educated in physics in the United States and in recent years taught at Amir Kabir University, also known as Tehran Polytechnic.
He also served as the head of the Inspection Board of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution at one point.
