The head of the Atomic Energy Organization: We have not enriched above 60 percent

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization stated that enrichment above 60 percent has not occurred and the issue of 84 percent uranium has been resolved.

According to Iranian media, Mohammad Eslami said that in the agency’s report to the Board of Governors, certain points were mentioned, and it was explicitly written there that they had observed 84 percent particles. However, considering the renewed examinations and inspections that were conducted, and the interactions that took place, it was decided that the standard for action would be the measurement of the reserve amount obtained from the production line.

Mr. Eslami emphasized that the Islamic Republic is committed to the safeguards and the NPT.

The International Atomic Energy Agency recently requested Iran to clarify regarding the traces of 83.7 percent uranium.

This level of uranium purity is close to the 90 percent enrichment needed for nuclear weapon production. Iran has attributed it to the deposition of radioactive materials in centrifuges and the inspectors’ error.
