Head of IRIB: Platforms are not allowed to broadcast the Nations Cup football matches

The head of the broadcasting organization says platforms are not allowed to broadcast the Asian Cup football matches.

Recently, a letter signed by one of the SATRA managers was sent to the platforms through a special line, emphasizing that none of the platforms have the right to broadcast the Asian Cup football matches live.

The issuance of this letter to some platforms that had attracted sponsors for broadcasting the matches live has faced severe complaints from them, as they now have to pay compensation for canceling contracts with sponsors since they cannot broadcast live.

It is unclear why the broadcasting organization, which itself issues platform licenses through SATRA, is so openly imposing restrictions on them. If there are going to be so many limitations on simply broadcasting a live football match, what’s the point of issuing platform licenses at all?

Interestingly, during major sports events, cafes, teahouses, and restaurants can broadcast the football matches live and earn revenue, but platforms are not even considered as much as a teahouse owner.
