The head of the Urban Development Committee of the City Council says the subsidence situation in Tehran is terrifying.

Mohammad Aghamiri, the head of the Urban Development Committee of Tehran City Council, said about the subsidence situation in Tehran, ‘I can’t disclose it because it’s confidential, but it’s terrifying.’

On Tuesday, in a press conference, Mohammad Aghamiri described the subsidence situation in Tehran as terrifying and said, ‘The subsidence situation in Tehran is terrifying.’

They have given me a confidential letter; I can’t disclose the statistics.

In District 18, the Water and Wastewater Company is excessively using underground water resources, and the depth of subsidence in this area has reached 20 centimeters.

Aghamiri, addressing the water crisis in Tehran, stated that the water issue has a 100% solution and said, ‘Our question is, if we transfer water from the Taleqan Dam, what will we do afterward? We don’t have a water problem; we have a water management problem.’

In another part of his remarks, he pointed out that Tehran is not prepared for an earthquake and said, ‘Tehran is not ready for an earthquake of 6 Richter or above, and if an earthquake occurs, a disaster will happen because the water and gas facilities are not prepared for an earthquake.’
