Head of Asadabad Natural Resources Department: 100 hectares of the province's pastures were destroyed in a wildfire

The head of the Department of Natural Resources in Asadabad stated that 100 hectares of the province’s pastures were destroyed in a wildfire.

Behzad Shahmoradi, the head of the Department of Natural Resources in Asadabad, Hamedan province, said that a fire in Hosseinabad in this county has turned 100 hectares of pastures, agricultural lands, and orchards in the region into ashes.

Mr. Shahmoradi told the state news agency IRNA that this wildfire was contained after five hours of efforts by the natural resources teams, Red Crescent volunteers, farmers, local communities, and the use of fire extinguishers, water sprayers, and other equipment.

According to him, this year, 9 wildfires covering 200 hectares have occurred in this county.

This government official explained the cause of these wildfires as follows: the rainfall has led to an increase in vegetation coverage in the pastures of this county. On the other hand, the shortage of livestock has caused many of these pastures and forages to remain untouched, making them vulnerable to wildfires.
