Etimad wrote: Following the increase in living difficulties for the impoverished classes, a group of doctors and healthcare providers in the country warned about the growing number of patients in need who are unable to pay for hospitalization in public hospitals.

Hossein Kermani, the manager of Sina Hospital’s emergency department, wrote in a tweet on Friday: The number of patients who have been discharged but, despite having health insurance, have no money or are hiding it or for any other reason, is increasing. Sometimes other patients in the ward, and sometimes doctors and nurses, pool their money to help, and sometimes the hospital itself gives a discount. This situation will not hold up.

Families of schizophrenia patients are another group who, in recent months, have been standing at the crossroads of falling into the depths of poverty due to the heavy burden of medication and treatment costs, either by continuing treatment or abandoning it and watching their patient face an early death.
