The human rights organization Hengaw reports that at least 14 citizens have been killed in the Mahabad protests so far.
The Hengaw news website, which covers human rights issues in the Kurdish regions of Iran, published a photo of the Mahabad cemetery and its new graves, stating that at least 14 citizens have been killed by direct gunfire from government forces during the recent popular resistance in the city of Mahabad.
In this image, several new graves can be seen adorned with red netting, a custom specifically for young deceased individuals.
Jalal Mahmoudzadeh, the representative of Mahabad in the Iranian Parliament, stated to news agencies on November 21 that up to that date, 11 people had been killed in this city. He mentioned that security forces have been stationed in various parts of the city and that some of them have fired at the windows of people’s homes, shops, and buildings.
