The representative of Kashmar said that America set Evin Prison on fire. The U.S. Secretary of State knew about it 40 minutes before the fire and had called our foreign minister.

Hojatoleslam Javad Nikbin mentioned that if we want to eliminate street riots and the like from the country, the solution is Ruhollah. Imam Khomeini, who after the minor occultation, no one like him has come, did something and said words that were inspired from elsewhere. He said, ‘My companions are in cradles.’ We are at fault. I, Javad Nikbin, am at fault. Let’s not deflect these riots and protests. The issue of the enemy and foreign interference is a separate matter.

The foreign minister stated that on the night Evin caught fire, I had just arrived home and hadn’t even taken off my coat when the U.S. Secretary of State called and said, ‘We have four prisoners in Evin who are supposed to be exchanged. Make sure nothing happens to them.’ I said there was no news. The U.S. Secretary of State knew about it 40 minutes before we did. They set Evin on fire themselves with their own people.

Behavior can only be changed with thoughts, not with force and threats, just as Reza Khan couldn’t forcibly remove the chador from women.
