Court proceedings for the accused in the Urmia neighborhoods youth case
The Committee for Monitoring the Situation of Detainees announced the holding of a court session to address the charges against the accused in the Urmia neighborhoods youth case.
According to a tweet published by this committee, the court was held on February 1st and in this session, which is said to have lasted five minutes, the judge informed the accused that they are facing sentences ranging from two to five years in prison.
Previously, the West Azerbaijan IRGC Intelligence Organization had stated in a notice that this organization was formed following the Tehran neighborhoods youth organization in Urmia and that its leaders were inciting and deceiving the youth.
The Committee for Monitoring the Situation of Detainees writes that despite the IRGC Intelligence’s announcement that the accused in this case are mostly adults, a significant number of those arrested in this case are students, with the youngest detainee being a 15-year-old female student.
