Human rights news agency HRANA: Critical cleric Taghi Akbarnejad arrested

The human rights news agency HRANA reported that critical cleric Taghi Akbarnejad was arrested by the Revolutionary Guards’ intelligence forces and transferred to an unknown location.

HRANA wrote that so far, no information has been obtained about the reasons for his arrest or his place of detention.

Mr. Akbarnejad, the director of the Kermanshah Kongavar Seminary, had previously attracted judicial attention and action for criticizing the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Recently, he commented on the performance of Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, referring to his slogans about approaching the peak, saying, ‘I am amazed, where is our Assembly of Experts? Is our Assembly of Experts dead or alive? How come they never ask the leader to explain where the peak he shows us is, why the nation does not feel this peak?’

He also recounted a conversation with one of the worshippers who regretfully told him, ‘Mr. Khamenei is not our leader; he is the leader of the Yemenis and Palestinians because he cares more for them than for us.’
