In response to criticisms, the national broadcasting organization stated that it should be allocated a higher budget.
The national broadcasting organization, in response to widespread criticisms, announced that the threefold increase in its budget approved by the Islamic Consultative Assembly for the next year is not sufficient and that it should be allocated a higher budget according to the seventh budget plan.
The Iranian government’s radio and television, whose head is appointed by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, stated on Tuesday, 30 January, in a statement that according to Article 77 of the seventh budget plan, the government’s share in providing the necessary funds for the national broadcasting organization in 2024 should increase by 43% more than the annual growth in order to fulfill the new obligations specified in the plan.
This statement adds that this amount is at most 31% in the budget for the next year, which is still less than the provision of the plan.
The Islamic Republic’s national broadcasting organization claims that achieving its programs requires budgets greater than the share considered in the budget for the next year.
The Islamic Consultative Assembly approved an allocation of 24 trillion tomans to the national broadcasting organization in the examination of the 1403 budget bill, which is three times the budget of this organization in the current year.
