A 10 to 270 percent increase in the price of some medications
A look at the table of drug price increases shows that common and widely used medications have experienced price hikes ranging from 10 percent to 270 percent in recent months. What has turned this situation into a concerning condition is not just the price increase of medications but also its coincidence with the unchanged insurance coverage percentage.
While the prices of medications have experienced jumps of several tens and even hundreds of percent, the share of insurance has not seen a significant change, which means a major portion of the price increase burden is being transferred to the people.
The head of the parliament’s health and treatment commission said the out-of-pocket expenses for people should be reduced to less than 30 percent, but current statistics show that this figure has now reached 55 to 70 percent.
