The Iranian Independent Filmmakers Association: Boycott the Fajr Festival
In a statement, the Iranian Independent Filmmakers Association called on filmmakers, producers, and cinema representatives from around the world to stand with the people of Iran, be their voice, and convey the message of ‘Woman, Life, Freedom’ to the world.
This association has described the Fajr Festival as an inseparable part of the repressive cultural policies of the Islamic Republic and has asked all cinema stakeholders to join them in exposing the regime’s propaganda tactics by boycotting it.
The Iranian Independent Filmmakers Association also highlighted the harsh conditions of Jafar Panahi, Mohammad Rasoulof, Taraneh Alidoosti, and Mojgan Ilanlou in prison and the threat of execution they face, stating that any participation in the Fajr Festival will be seen as support for the government.
