Instagram Blocked Fars News Agency’s Page

Instagram blocked the page of Fars News Agency

On Thursday, October 15, Fars News Agency announced that Meta has blocked the Instagram page of this media outlet without prior notice.

According to this news agency, on Tuesday afternoon, the main page of this news agency on Instagram was closed, and despite follow-ups with Meta, no explanation has been provided regarding the reason for this action or when it will be reopened.

Meta, which owns Instagram and Facebook, had previously blocked a number of accounts related to officials and institutions of the Islamic Republic of Iran due to content publication or connections with the Islamic Republic and groups listed as terrorist organizations by Western countries, including the United States.

In recent years, Meta has removed or blocked many posts and accounts related to the Islamic Republic.

In February 2024, the closure of the page of the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran due to repeated violations of Meta’s policies also made headlines.
