Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp faced a global disruption

The three major social networks and messaging apps, Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, encountered disruptions for a few minutes on Wednesday afternoon, which was reported to be due to an outage at the headquarters of their parent network, Meta.

The disruption occurred on Wednesday, April 15, around 21:30 Tehran time, and very soon forced thousands of users of these apps to express their frustration and complaints on other networks like X, formerly Twitter, and TikTok, and discuss the issue together. Meta announced an hour later that the disruptions on Instagram, Facebook, and the messaging app WhatsApp had been resolved, but by Wednesday night, numerous users were still reporting issues accessing them.

In addition to the UK, where thousands of users reported not being able to access their apps, about 3,500 users in India and another 7,000 users in Brazil also reported similar disruptions.
