Iran in a letter to the United Nations demanded compensation for the 12-day war from the United States
Amir Saeid Iravani, the ambassador and permanent representative of the Islamic Republic at the United Nations, sent a letter to Antonio Guterres and the current president of the Security Council, requesting compensation and reparation for the material and moral damages of the 12-day war from the United States.
According to the Fars News Agency, Iravani in this letter referred to the U.S. Air Force’s press statement on November 25 about the involvement of the U.S. military in the attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran’s nuclear facilities and also to statements by Donald Trump a few weeks ago, in which he said that the leadership of the military operation against the military positions and nuclear facilities of the Islamic Republic was personally with the U.S. president from the first day.
Donald Trump, three weeks ago at the White House, told reporters that he was responsible and at the forefront of Israel’s attack on June 13 against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The permanent representative of the Islamic Republic at the United Nations, citing these statements, held the United States alongside Israel responsible for the invasion of Iranian territory and the violation of national sovereignty, and wrote that the U.S. is obliged to fully compensate for the damages caused by these violations to Iran and its citizens, including any material and moral damages. This is in accordance with international law, which includes the obligation to restore the situation to its previous state and to compensate for the damages caused.
While Iran, Israel, and the United States are not members of the International Criminal Court, Iravani in his letter demanded the establishment of individual criminal responsibility for each of the U.S. officials and individuals who have participated in the commission of serious violations of international humanitarian law, including committing crimes.
