The Iran Stock Exchange Supervisory Center reported that gold funds lost 16 trillion tomans in one week.

Data from the Investment Funds Supervision Center of the Securities and Exchange Organization show that in the past week, from April 11 to April 17, 2025, the total net asset value of gold funds fell by 16 trillion tomans to 163 trillion tomans, experiencing a 10% decline.

The price of an ounce of gold in global markets saw a 5% increase last week.

Meanwhile, the dollar rate in domestic markets experienced a remarkable 157% decrease.

Gold bullion and coin certificates, as the most important assets of gold funds during this period, decreased by 74% and 8% respectively.

From April 12 to April 17, 2025, Iran’s open market witnessed significant fluctuations in the dollar rate.

On April 12, the dollar price was recorded at approximately 98,600 tomans, which is considered one of the highest values during this period.

However, just one day later, on April 13, the dollar rate plummeted dramatically to 84,500 tomans, a decrease equivalent to about 143% in one day.

Afterwards, the dollar rate slightly increased to 85,000 tomans on April 14.

On April 15, the price rose to 90,000 tomans, reflecting a temporary return of demand or market caution.

Nevertheless, this increase did not last, and the dollar fell again on April 16 and 17 to 84,000 tomans and 83,000 tomans, respectively.

These fluctuations, especially the initial sharp decline, were likely heavily influenced by news regarding indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States in Oman and Italy.
