Iranian National Boxing Team Wins Against Russia

The Iranian national boxing team achieved victory against Russia.

A joint training camp between the national boxing teams of Iran and Russia was held in Tehran. The two teams competed in two preparatory matches in seven Olympic weight categories, with Iran winning with scores of 61 and 52 respectively.

Iran, with a Cuban coach, is preparing to participate in the Olympic selection competitions hosted by Thailand. The recent escalation of tensions between Russia and Ukraine has led to increased preparatory competitions in various sports between these countries and Iranian teams.

In the second match held at the Enghelab Sports Complex in Tehran, in the first weight category, Mostafa Reigi lost to Yevgeny Zorov. Danial Shahbakhsh, the only Iranian boxer to have won a medal in world competitions, succeeded in defeating Alexey Kiselev.

Ali Habibinezhad defeated Alan Bursov, and Kasra Tahmasbi passed the obstacle of Vassal Aliyev. In the fifth match in the 80-kilogram weight category, Hossein Mirahmadi and Gandali fought, with the Iranian representative emerging victorious. Then, Pouria Amiri managed to defeat Denis Kozolov.
