Iran’s Cement Industry Warns About 90% Reduction in Factory Electricity
The Secretary-General of the Iranian Cement Industry Association announced that the electricity quota for cement factories will be reduced by up to 90%, a decision which, according to him, will bring production down to about 10% of the current capacity.
Ali Akbar Alvandian stated that the Tavanir Company and regional electricity authorities have communicated these restrictions to the factories until the end of August and the beginning of September.
He warned that the continuation of this situation could severely disrupt cement production, especially at a time when demand for building materials and cement has increased following the recent war.
A large portion of Iran’s power plants operate on gas, and reports indicate that damage to the South Pars gas facilities has placed additional pressure on the electricity network and industries.
Even before the war, Iran was facing an electricity shortage crisis during the hot season.
